MatchPay is an online betting exchange, which means it’s a marketplace where you can buy and sell wagers (like a forex market). It’s in a different league from the majority of casino sites, which means you can typically expect better odds, plus a variety of betting markets. As an exchange, you won’t find it on any site that’s regulated by UKGC.
There are more betting exchanges than you can shake a stick at. You’ll find Betfair and Bet365 (two of the biggest), but also others like Sporting Exchange, GVC and Empire.
Despite this, MatchPay doesn’t have a huge audience. It used to be a big force when Betfair launched, but its limited markets, online casinos that accept matchpay lack of customer service and unreliable payment methods have made it less popular. It doesn’t accept credit cards, which rules out the majority of deposits.
There are a few sites that use it, but not the most popular ones. That’s why you won’t see it listed on our casinos. We listed the few places it’s available, but only for those who are super-serious about playing poker and roulette, which is most of them.
Betfair
One of the biggest name online betting exchanges.
Betfair was a competitor to Bet365 when it launched, and even after Bet365’s success it still has a good following. This means it has a big range of markets, but limited support.
Betfair is the major player in the betting exchange world, so if you want to play poker and roulette on a big betting exchange, you’ll need to use Betfair.
If you play on a regular basis, then it’s worth having a look at the markets you like, so you know which site and matchroom you want to use.
Online poker
There are a few good poker sites that allow you to play poker online against other players. The first, and biggest, site is Betfair Poker. It also allows you to use it for sports bets, and online roulette, but you’ll need to download a Betfair app (it’s available on iOS and Android) to play on your phone or tablet.
The main reason to use Betfair is it has excellent odds and you can deposit and withdraw using its debit cards, though it takes 3-4 days to process withdrawals.
For serious poker players, online casinos that accept matchpay Betfair is a good choice. It’s been around a long time and has more than 4 million registered users, so it’s very popular.
Play sports betting
If you’re looking for sports betting online, then it’s only on Betfair. It doesn’t take wagers on all sports (just cricket, rugby, darts, snooker, football, baseball, golf, horse racing, Formula 1 and tennis), but that’s enough for anyone to get a feel for what the site is all about.
As a punter, you’ll see match odds as well as margins on goals, results and markets. The markets are different to those you’ll find on the main casino sites. There are more options, and more markets that you can bet on. You can also find the same prices and odds as Bet365, so it’s another reliable betting exchange you can rely on for sports.
